Paradigms in our lives

Paradigms... I'm trying to think in paradigms.  I've heard this word many times, but I can't understand it completely.  However, reading and learning about that I ask my self... Have I paradigms in my life?  What line do I follow in my life?  How do to affect me the opinions, examples or ideas that the people give many things occurs in our environment?.

I can understand the paradigms as an idea that people have to something and that idea transforms into an example or lifestyle and a little time more like a challenge and then a goal and many people work hard to get them or be part of this ideas or paradigms.  The interesting is that these things not always are the truth, useful or important.

I found this interesting video on Youtube, I write and explain to the author why I need to use it.  I like how he explains what it a paradigm...

After this video, how can I change the world of the people with my work and service, how willing are they to change, can we do the people accept that we are living in paradigms?...

In the video of "Cultural clashes in defining beauty"
(https://www.ted.com/watch/ted-institute/ted-state-street/delali-bright-cultural-clashes-in-defining-beauty) I loved to listen to this woman and how the paradigms of her country made her unhappy for a long time and how the paradigms of the USA gave her a place, but only by changing these paradigms for others.

I was surprised with "Cultural Differences National Geographic" and how many people doesn't need the things that to others are essential and how their knowledge, feelings or paradigms are so different among them.  The example of Saint Claus it was perfect.  How do we connect to Saint Claus with the Birth of Jesus Christ?

The matter here is for these paradigms, the people lose the best things in their life, and the most important for me it is "the time", the time for to share, to learn, and to love and they live looking for something that the society says it the correct.

As teachers, we are immersed in paradigms too.  Maybe in multicultural classes, I will need to have empathy and meet every student personally, they hobbies, their joys and sorrows, their fears and challenges, their attributes and abilities and look them with love and not prejudices.

Have I paradigms in my life? Yes, I have... however I will try to think more in that, I need to ponder that.  Does God have paradigms too?  Are there good paradigms or all are bad? Are all the paradigms bad? I have many questions to answer, it's a great topic and I invite you to think about it too.

Love,

Neville

  1. Good questions, Neville. I see paradigms as the patterns of our lives and this is inevitable. The importance is that we acknowledge and respect differences in paradigms and are willing to make shifts in our paradigms in order to progress.
